Cadoc.nl is een website die zich sinds 2006 bezighoudt met boeken over fotografie, kunst en vormgeving. De missie van cadoc.nl is het overbrengen van het enthousiasme en het plezier dat ik zelf beleef aan deze boeken, op de bezoekers van de website. Dat doe ik door de bezoekers dagelijks op de hoogte te houden van nieuwe uitgaven en door het bespreken van boeken waar ik zelf enthousiast over ben.
De naamgever van Cadoc is de heilige Cadoc uit de twaalfde eeuw. Volgens de overlevering vond Cadoc toen hij tijdens de maaltijd de opgediende vis opensneed, zijn verloren gewaande exemplaar van Vergilius in de vissenbuik terug. Een boekwonder dat Cadoc tot een mogelijke patroonheilige van alle boekenvrienden maakt. In ieder geval tot naamgever van deze website.

Mark Bradford. You're Nobody ('til Somebody Kills You) door Christopher Bedford
Mark Bradford is best known for dazzling large-scale abstract collages that incisively examine class, race, and the gender-based economies that structure urban society in the United States. A recipient of a 2009 MacArthur Foundation Award (nicknamed the 'genius grants'), Bradford gathers found and salvaged materials from the area surrounding his studio in Leimert Park, L.A., engaging in an intricate artistic process that involves both creation and destruction. His complex, fractured works address pressing political issues and the media's influence on contemporary society while cataloguing cultural change and the artist's personal responses to societal conditions. The first major book on this leading African American artist, "Mark Bradford: You're Nobody (Til Somebody Kills You)" features essays by distinguished authors who investigate how Bradford deftly straddles the line between social critique and formal innovation, playing the two against one another to produce works of seduction and analysis. Topics include Bradford's debt to abstract expressionism, his relationship to the largely unknown history of twentieth-century abstraction by African American artists, his work as a public artist, and his interest in midcentury European collage and decollage practices.

Frantisek Drtikol door Annette en Rudolf Kicken
František Drtikol (1883–1961) geldt als één van de eerste Tsjechische fotografen die internationaal naam heeft gemaakt. Hij werd voornamelijk bekend door zijn karakteristieke naakten die naadloos aansloten bij de kunststromingen uit zijn tijd. Aanvankelijk zag je de invloed van Jugendstil en Symbolisme op zijn fotografische werk, later kon je zien hoe hij werd beïnvloed door Futurisme, Expressionisme en het Kubisme. Ondanks dat je deze stijlinvloeden kon herleiden, bleven het onmiskenbaar werken van Drtikol.
